A warm welcome is offered to all who would like to walk with us

We usually meet in the morning at 10 a.m. to walk and  end with a  shared  lunch at some convenient pub.

The target length of the walks is about 4 miles often over footpaths and bridleways

A charge of £2 per person is levied to cover expenses.

Re May 21st

Dear Broadland Walkers and friends,

This is by way of an advance notice to say that for our May Walk, Monday 21st, we shall be in holiday mood, and go to the Lincolnshire Fens and Crowland Abbey, which is on the site of St Guthlac’s grave. We shall follow much the same pattern of our usual walks… church visit, lunch, a short walk along a bank or two, and the added bonus of being able to re-evaluate your possibly jaundiced view of the A17. In Lincolnshire we do ‘Fens’ rather well! We have the good fortune to be in touch with those who live and worship there now, and who will guide us on our way. I shall be able to point out (as a historical site) the bridge where I idled away much of my youth. We shall also cross the Greenwich Meridian, which you would be sorry not to have noted. Once our act  is totally together we will provide a side of A4 with useful information.

This note is not solely to give you news of a future event, which is yet some way away. It is also physically far enough away for it to be preferable for us to travel together by coach, and it will certainly be cheaper to do that. The cost of the coach will be £20 per person or less depending on numbers. Without committing yourself(ves) definitely, it would be very helpful for us to know if you are hoping to come… it helps with booking a right sized coach. If more people want to come than we can provide seats for, it may be first come first served. Will you let Mary Brookes know your mind on this. Many thanks.

The cost of our trip will be a share of the coach travel, and a contribution to church fabric, and local organizations, as seem right. There are nice eating places locally and we shall pay for our own lunches.

Hope this seems all right to you.

The Lord being our helper, our bus will start at Sheringham, maybe stop at Aylsham, and definitely stop at the Diocesan Offices where you may leave your cars. Then we shall head out towards towards the River Nene and the Western Hemisphere… and tired out after all the excitement we shall return home the way we came.

Mary and I hope that you will want to come

Michael Handley
