tBelaugh Church from the Staithe

You can’t speak about church crawling on the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads without reference to John Betjeman the patron saint of church visitors.

It was Belaugh Church that got him started:

And I think it was the outline of that church tower at Belaugh against the sky which gave me a passion for churches so that every church I’ve past since I’ve wanted to stop and look in.’

To help visitors to the Broads find local churches a Staithe and Churches Guide has produced by The Broads and Rivers Open Churches Project.  Other leaflets including the leaflet for the annual Open Churches Week are available from the new diocesan project Norfolk and Waveney  Churches Discovery Project.

Children of all ages will particularly enjoy the Dragon Trail.

The  most helpful web resources to those who want to explore the churches on the web are Simon Knott’s Norfolk and Suffolk Churches sites.

Cyclists will find Routes on the Broads by Bike website
