Annual St. Benet’s Service 3.30 p.m. 2nd August 2009

A wonderful way and a wonderful day to sing God’s praises amidst the beauty of Broadland! Why don’t you come and join in!

Last year Bishop Peter Fox deputised for Bishop Graham. This year its your main man! By a strange fate of history St. Benet’s remains the only monastery not dissolved by Henry VIII at Bishop Graham – albeit that he’s a married man – is the Abbot! To add to the confusion the vicar of Horning – who happens to be a lady – is the Prior!

Oh well whether one is in favour of married bishops or lady priests St. Benet’s is a reminder of the unity Christians enjoyed up until the Reformation. We will be united again in the ecumenical service to be held here on 2nd August 2009 at 3.30 p.m..

The bishop will be arriving on the wherry Hathor. You can arrive by boat, bike, foot or car. Take the farm road down onto the marshes – there will be adequatpfstbe parking!
